Howdy

6140_1155181452015_7580186_nHowdy y’all. Remember slash marks /// means put in how you would define the over all feel of the action being described.

I would like to try and explain the pictures/saying by my mom. We will be selling these at (how would you put it) here soon, unless Brady has already started it. Any way, back over the winter holidays my mom wanted to give a gift to some people she felt she wanted to say thank you too. So she picked out pictures of Mikey and decided on a saying. Now I don’t know where or who came up with the words. And please don’t message about where it came from or what part is what. I don’t really care, it is something my mom feels strongly about and that’s what matters. The ones who got the first set (if you want to call them that), were pictures she picked for that person. Some got pictures of Mikey and me, Mikey and her, some got a picture of me and her with a picture of Mikey (from when we were walking at the Day of Dead cermony after Mikey passed) and some got a picture of Mikey. The saying changed a bit with each but the jest is as follows “Some bring a light so bright that even after they are gone it still remains” After she made these she decided that maybe some of you less close would like one too. Well we picked 3 different pictures that she really liked because she feels they have special meaning to them. The pictures she picked are: one from Soundset, not sure if it was 09 or 10. But Mikey is jumping around, having fun and she talks often how Mikey would climb anything and jump off. She even talks in one of her poems about swinging high and jumping off. The next one picked is of Mikey playing the guitar in his yellow shirt. She picked this one because Mikey told her yellow was his favorite color and she loved when he played. She was so impressed that within a few years of playing he was so good. As for the last one it is very special to her because she believes it speaks to the person Mikey was. He is hosting a benefit for one of his best friend’s (Joey) sister who had passed the summer right before Mikey. Sheri asked Mikey if he would host and play a benefit to help cover funeral cost. Mikey was touring at the time (I think with Education Consumer but not sure) and he rearranged his whole schedule so that he could be here to help.

So she had me help her with ones to go to soundset and we did. We made 25 of each picture and started to sell them at soundset. To explain why we are selling them it is to continue to put together some music from Mikey in many forms that had not been released into the world. That’s what Grands Sixth Sense is, all about the very first young music that had never been put out. Now that’s not to say that other forms of some of that basic music didn’t work it’s way into music that did come out. It’s just to say that in the raw 1st attempt it wasn’t out. All the money made on here goes to continue this process, and will allow us to put things that Mikey had just been working, the work he had or was doing with others, and to keep connections going the best we can.

I say we because there has been many in and out to help with many different projects/parts/tasks/under takings but the main few who have been the constant have been my mom, Brady(Brody) and believe it or not, You fans. At the very least, all most everyone I meet/get messaged/respond to posts/support events/what ever way you reach out, has been very encouraging. It helps when I struggle with all that keeping things moving, entails.

Thank you all for the love and support you continue to show me.

Love

Kathy

Your son is the single most inspirational individual in my life!
even the music he wrote and recorded at the age of 13 raised the bar for hip hop whether people acknowledge it or not. His lyrics are truly the most genius thing my brain has ever had the pleasure of processing, he made me want to write, he made me think about what I wanted in my role models and his music brought me out of so many stages of fuckdom he might as well have been my guidance councilor…
I explored his entire discography, everything from his band carbon carousel to his early music with abilities…who by the way is also outstanding.
I never got to meet him in person, but sometimes he takes the form of my conscious…of course so does Batman and Freddy Mercury…because those other two are also influential in my life…any hoot. I make music now and it really helps to keep me busy, most importantly I do it cause I enjoy it, but I only enjoy it because of this man!
He did whatever he wanted in regards to music and I think that was the most inspirational thing about him, he never restricted himself to a style or a genre because he had no limitations!!! and even now he is alive in Santa Fe New Mexico! his music is a pillar in history and you fucking made him!!! thank the shit out of you for bringing him into this world to change our lives and our thoughts through face melting, mind blowing, revolutionary music!! I hope that some kind of comfort can find its way to you…

Thank you for sharing and as I read the posts from others it helps in a small way to know people still listen and share him with others. Sometime I feel like I say the same thing to so many of you but with out all of you I don’t know that I could do this. Keep him going. So thank you for that. Love Kathy

I barely found this site and was very pleased to read this post, and how you all are gathering money in order to continue to release his music to fans, such as myself. His music is so well constructed, each individual song has its own frame of mind and work behind it and it has truly been a comfort and inspiration to me whenever I get the chance to hear his music. As a writer, I feel somewhat of an unexplainable connection whenever I hear a song, as each has its own significance to me and his lyrics bring me to my own thoughtful state. His music has portrayed particular sets of lines consisting of beautifully crafted rhymes with a thoughtful array of vocabulary and such deep meanings. I believe what i read when mom said he told her that he would be more famous after he was dead, and this is part of the reason why i feel like his voice and music is so powerful. It’s like an everlasting message that he has spoken and is still speaking. The impression his writings have made on me cannot be explained and I think it’s so wonderful that his mom has continuously supported him throughout his career and has not stopped. For this, I am grateful to have the privilege of being introduced to each separate piece of his artwork you all have released. His thought process is untouchable and his music is invincible, I am pretty thankful for such a talented man whose music i have come to know, feel, and be inspired from, may he rest in absolute peace.

Thank you it’s nice for me to know that many still want to hear about Mikey and any music he had in the works or even old things that were not released before. I try to keep things moving and sometimes that is a slow process but as long as everyone can hold on and be patient there is tons of Mikey’s stuff to come forth. Love Kathy
